Glasgow Dry Cleaners Robbed At Gunpoint

Glasgow  – Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Newark area dry cleaning business that occurred yesterday afternoon, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the VIP Cleaners, located at 2430 Pulaski Highway, Newark. A Hispanic male subject entered the business and approached a 50 year old female employee at the sales counter, pointed a handgun at her, while handing her a bag, said Austin. The employee placed an undisclosed amount of money from the register into the bag and handed it back over to the suspect, who then fled in an unknown direction. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male with a thin build, wearing a black jacket, black pants, black knit hat, black fabric covering the lower portion of his face and in possession of a black handgun.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Troop 2 Robbery Unit at 302-365-8566.

The cleaners in this article is located in the same parking lot as 24/7 Food Market that was reportedly robbed yesterday. In that case we reported that Delaware State Troopers responded to 2445 Pulaski Highway for reports of an armed robbery that had occurred at the 24/7 Food Mart. Authorities have not released the details of that incident.
