Just In: Oil Truck Overturns, Knocks Out Power To Newark Residents

Newark – Just after 10:30 this morning crews from Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder, along with crews from the Christiana Fire Company, Newark Police and New Castle County Police responded to the 1100 block of Church Road for reports of wires down.

Upon arrival crews found an oil truck that overturned after striking a utility pole.  Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of the truck was not injured during the accident.

Church Road is closed as crews work the accident. Fire police are not allowing traffic into the area.

HAZMAT teams are responding from the Dover area to deal with fuel leaking from the truck.

Additional crews from Delmarva Power are responding to deal with the utility pole and a power outage. Delmarva is reporting that 91 customers are without service due to the accident.
