House Fire Near Carousel Park Injures Family Dog

Carousel Park-Area – Just after 10:10 this morning firefighters from the Mill Creek Fire Company, along with firefighters from Aetna Hose, Hook ,and Ladder, Hockessin, Elsmere, Cranston Heights , Belvedere  and New Castle County Paramedics responded to the 3500 block of Hopkins Drive for reports of a residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, a Deputy Delaware State Fire Marshall, responding to the scene, reported smoke showing. As firefighters arrived and began to battle the blaze they learned that everyone was out of the house except for the family dog.

After several minutes firefighters found the dog suffering from injuries sustained in the incident. Medics and firefighters quickly began CPR on the dog in an effort to resuscitate the family pet.

 

The interior of the home sustained extensive smoke and fire damage .

The fate of the dog is unknown at this time.
