Robber Rushes Clerk, Grabs Money From Register In New Castle

New Castle – Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a New Castle area gas station that occurred this morning, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 7:07 a.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at the Shell gas station located at 299 Christiana Road, New Castle. As the cashier opened the register in order to complete a transaction for a customer, a white male suspect who had been seen wandering the store, rushed behind the sales counter and grabbed cash from the open register, according to Austin. Once obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash the suspect fled on foot towards Appleby Road. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20-30 years of age, 5’7”-5’10”, 230-250 lbs., wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and dark knit hat. The suspect did not display or imply a weapon.
