Claymont – Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a 62-year-old business owner that took place outside a Claymont area florist earlier this week, Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 2:43 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Silver Queen Florist, located at 20 Ridge Road.  While outside the front door of his business, the shopkeeper was approached by a black male suspect, who inquired about making a purchase, according to Austin.

As the shopkeeper turned his back to proceed back in to the business to assist with the inquiry, the suspect knocked him to the ground and proceeded to rifle through his pockets, while demanding money, said Austin.

The suspect was last seen entering into a blue mini-van which was parked in the lot of the adjacent Wawa, that fled westbound on Naaman’s Road. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, 40-50 years of age, 5’8”-5’9”, with a muscular build, wearing all dark clothing to include a winter hat.
