Middletown Amazon Distribution Center On Fire

File

Middletown –  Just before 9:30 pm, Tuesday March, 21, 2018,  firefighters from across New Castle County, along with crews from Cecil County, Md. responded to the 560 Merrimac Avenue for reports of a fire at the Amazon.Com Fulfillment Center.

Crews reported that the fire in the conveyor system had been knocked down.

Reports from the scene indicate that the sprinkler system in the building activated during the incident.

A deputy with the State Fire Marshal’s office responded to the scene but no estimate of damage has been released thus far.

It’s unclear how much damage the fire and water caused, if any.

As crews were working the fire scene command asked for an ambulance to respond to the scene for a possible patient.

Update:

It appears that the fire was contained and brought under control by arriving firefighters. The ambulance that command requested was reportedly requested for an asthma patient.
