Newark – On Sunday March 4, 2018 at approximately 12:34 a.m. an officer was on routine patrol in the area of Christina Parkway and Elkton Road. The officer observed a silver sedan traveling westbound on Christina Parkway, crossing through the intersection of Elkton Road, according to Newark Police.

Officials said the vehicle then began to travel into the eastbound lanes of Suburban Drive and almost cause a head on collision. The vehicle stopped and backed up into the intersection in order to travel into the proper lane. The officer conducted a traffic stop and immediately detected that the operator appeared intoxicated.

The operator was identified as Jeffery J. Bruton of Newark, Delaware. He was subsequently arrested for 3rd Offense DUI (Felony), Driving While Suspended, Inattentive Driving and Civil Possession of Marijuana, said police. Bruton was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 11 and later released on $750 unsecured bond.
