Fire Destroys Work Van, Damages Home In Newark On Saturday

Newark – Just after 1:00 this afternoon firefighters from Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder, along with crews from the Christiana, Mill Creek, and Cranston Heights Fire Companies were dispatched to the unit block of Westfield Drive in Westfield (Near Casho Mill and Elkton Road) for a vehicle fire with extension to the home.

Chief Andrew Bowerson, first to arrive, found a work van on fire extending to the garage of a 2 story single family home. New Castle County Paramedics were then dispatched to stand by the fire scene.

Firefighters quickly knocked the fire down and brought the incident under control.

No were no reported injuries.

Deputies with the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.
