Police Identify Teen, Man Executed In Belvedere


 

The New Castle County Police have identified the victims as 15-year-old Doris E. Dorsey and 35-year–old Vincent DiMenco .

Detectives from the New Castle County Police Homicide Squad have also confirmed that Doris Dorsey was the homeowners daughter and Vincent DiMenco was a friend of the homeowner.

New Castle County Police are actively investigating an apparent double Homicide that occurred in the community of the Belvedere, according to M/Cpl. Michel Eckerd.

Eckerd said earlier this morning, June 17, at 1:27 am, New Castle County Police were dispatched to a shooting which had occurred on the unit block of Lloyd Street. When the units arrived, they discovered one injured 15-year-old female victim inside of a vehicle and a 35-year-old second victim was located a short distance away. Both of the subjects had apparent gunshot wounds and were later pronounced deceased by New Castle County Paramedics.

Detectives from the New Castle County Police Homicide Squad arrived on scene and assumed the investigation. This is currently an ongoing and active investigation. No suspect information is available at this time.

Colonel Vaughn M. Bond, Jr released a statement,“I want to ensure the residents of New Castle County that our officers and detectives are fully committed to solving this heinous crime; however, we need the help of the community. Please work with us to identify the person(s) responsible for this senseless incident that has devastated and forever altered the lives of their loved ones. I also want to remind the residents of New Castle County that we all have a responsibility for the safety and security of our communities, it is not just a police responsibility, it is a shared responsibility between the community and police. We must work together to prevent crimes and to solve them when they occur. Together we must send a message to those engaging in criminal activity, especially violent criminal activity, that it will not be tolerated in our neighborhoods.”

A reward of up to $10,000.00 is available to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of those responsible for violent crimes being investigated by this agency.

Breaking Report

Prices Corner-Area – Just after 1:30 this morning, rescue crews from the Belvedere Fire Company, along with New Castle County Paramedics and New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Lloyd Street, near the intersection of Route 141 and Boxwood Road for reports of a shooting.

Initial reports indicate that County Police are investigating an incident where at least two people have been shot.

Police have yet to confirm early reports that at least two people were killed during the incident.

Police and DelDOT crews currently have the area blocked off. All traffic on Newport Gap Pike is being diverted away from the scene.
