Troopers Investigating Armed Robbery In Claymont

Claymont – The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place in the parking lot of the Tri-State Mall on Tuesday evening, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 6:49 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2018, in the parking lot of the Tri-State Mall, located at 401 Naamans Road, Claymont. A 53-year-old Trainer, Pennsylvania man had just left the Dollar General store and returned to his parked vehicle. Just after entering the vehicle he was approached by a suspect who displayed a handgun and demanded property, according to Austin. The victim complied by turning over his cell phone, car keys and an undisclosed amount of cash. After obtaining the property the suspect fled in a blue van that was parked nearby. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, 25-35 years of age, 5’8”-5’10”, 200-220 lbs., in possession of a black handgun.
