Update: Four-Year-Old Dies After Falling Into Family Pool In Claymont

The little boy, who was found in a family swimming pool last night in Claymont, has died.

Last night, July 4, at approximately 7:30 p.m., New Castle County Police Patrol Officers were dispatched to the unit block of Franklin Avenue, in the community of Claymont Terrace, for reports of a missing 4-year old child.

Upon arrival, the officers interviewed family members and began a search of the area. After a brief search, authorities alerted dispatch that the child had been found and that CPR was underway. The child was located in the family’s swimming pool by the patrol officers, according to police.

The child was transported by Claymont Fire Company Ambulance to AI Dupont with a full crew of New Castle County Paramedics accompanying.  The child was listed critical condition at the time of transport but later passed away, according to authorities.
