Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the armed robbery of a Wilmington area Royal Farms that took place early Sunday morning, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m., Sunday, August 5, 2018, at the Royal Farms, located at 3701 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington. A suspect armed with a handgun entered the store via the rear entrance doors and confronted an employee and five patrons at the sales counter, according to Austin. The employee ultimately turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect who then fled through the rear doors of the business. The patron who was initially struck by the suspect was the only subject injured during the incident however medical treatment was declined, according to Austin.
