SUV Slams Through Jersey Barrier Before Rolling, Route 40 Closed Overnight – Video

New Castle – Just after 10:00 last evening, Thursday, September 13, rescue crews from the Wilmington Manor Fire Company, along with crews from Goodwill, Delaware City, and New Castle County Paramedics responded to the Route 40/Route 13 split for a rollover crash.

Early indications are that a white SUV broke through the Jersey barrier, crossing into oncoming traffic before rolling over. It’s believed that the SUV struck a New Castle County Police Tahoe during the accident.

Route 40 (Pulaski Highway) eastbound was closed at Wilton Blvd while New Castle County Police investigated the accident.

Large white chunks of concrete from the barrier can be seen strewn about the roadway in the photo below.
