Troopers Release Preliminary Details Regarding I-95 School Bus Crash, 15 To Area Hospital

The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a crash involving a school bus that occurred at approximately 3:26 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018, on I-95 northbound just south of the of I-295 interchange.

The initial investigation has determined that the crash involves a total of four vehicles, one of which was a school bus that was transporting students from Delcastle Technical High School.

A total of thirteen students on board the bus and two adults from the other vehicles involved were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries.

Motorists will experience delays in the area and are advised to seek alternate routes of travel.

Update

New Castle – Rescue crews from several New Castle fire companies, along with Delaware State Police have responded to the I-95/295 NB split in the area of Route 141.

Early reports are that fourteen patients have been transported to Christian Hospital as a result of an accident involving a school bus.

On scene, command reported that all of the injuries were “walking wounded”. The injuries are believed to be minor injuries to neck, face, and arm injuries.

State Police issued the following statement:

The Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a crash involving a school bus that occurred at approximately 3:26 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018 on I-95 northbound in the area of I-295.

Motorists will experience delays in the area and are advised to seek alternate routes of travel.

As a result of the crash, the school bus was lodged on the back of a black vehicle. It’s unclear if the occupants of the car are included in the injured.
