Just In: Firefighters Respond To Christmas Day House Fire

Wilmington – At 3:56 this afternoon firefighters from across New Castle County responded to the 2500 block of Gannet Lane for reports of a house fire.

While en route, crews received reports from a neighbor that smoke and flames were coming from the window. Upon their arrival, crews from the Elsmere Fire Company reported smoke showing from the home.

Crews subsequently learned from neighbors that the residents of the structure were not at home.

Within minutes of arrival, crews reported that the fire had been contained to the first floor and that a primary search of the home was underway.

Crews later reported that the primary and secondary search of the home were met with negative results. No one was located inside the home.

Early indications are that the home has suffered significant damage from fire, smoke, and water.

Fire Marshals are currently on scene investigating.
