State Fire Marshals Say Claymont House Fire Was Arson

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that this morning’s house fire in Claymont, DE was Arson, according to Chief Deputy Robert Fox.

Fox said the Claymont Fire Company was alerted to a fire in the 1900 block of Garfield Avenue in the Gwinhurst neighborhood at approximately 5:30 am this morning. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the residence.

Deputies from the State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. Due to this being an active criminal investigation no further details will be released, said Fox.

No one was injured in the fire. The fire caused approximately $130,000 in damages.
