Wilmington Police Charge New Castle Man For Gun, Drugs

Wilmington Police officers on proactive patrol have arrested and charged a 23-year-old New Castle man after recovering a gun and drugs during a traffic stop, said police.

Officials said on March 20 at approximately 8:31 p.m., police on patrol in the 500 block of Madison Street observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign, and conducted a traffic stop.

Officers recovered a loaded handgun from the passenger-side floorboard, in addition to marijuana in several bags totaling 37.5 grams, according to police.

Police have charged 23-year-old Leonard Brown of New Castle with possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited who also possesses a controlled substance, as well as possession of marijuana.

Brown was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was released on $3,300 unsecured bail.
