Happening Now: Rescue Crews Responding To Delaware River For Water Rescue

Delaware City – Rescue crews from several New Castle County fire companies and marine units, along with Trooper have responded to the Delaware River for reports of an overturned vessel with persons in the water.

Upon arrival, in the area of Pea Patch Island, crews are porting that conditions are very foggy.

Update: Trooper 4 has located the vessel and has reported that the boat has run aground on a rock wall. Two people are out of the water, both sitting on the boat.

Update: Marine units have made initial contact and are reporting that the vessel is a sailboat run aground.

Update: Two swimmers have been put into the water to make contact with the people on the boat.

Update: The occupants of the boat have been transferred to a rescue boat and are being transported to Delaware City.
