Woman Charged With Stabbing Man In New Castle Motel

New Castle – The Delaware State Police have arrested 30-year-old Cheri LeMasters of New Castle, in connection with a stabbing that took place at a New Castle area motel Sunday evening, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said at approximately 6:30 p.m., Sunday, March 31, 2019, Troopers responded to the Dutch Inn, located at 111 S. Dupont Hwy., in reference to a stabbing. Upon their arrival, they located a 50-year-old male victim in one of the rooms suffering from a stab wound to the upper torso. Through further investigation, it was determined that LeMasters stabbed the victim during the course of a verbal altercation which took place inside the room, Austin said.

LeMasters was located on the motel property a short time later and taken into custody without incident. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for serious, non-life threatening injuries.

LeMasters was transported to Troop 2 where she was charged with one count each of Assault 1st Degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony. She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11 and then committed to the Dolores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in lieu of $40,000.00 secured bail.
