Happening Now: Crews Respond To Apartment Fire In Newark

Newark – Just after 5:00 this evening Newark Police and firefighters from across New Castle County responded to 19 Country Club Drive for reports a multi-residential structure fire.

Newark Police already on scene were able to remove one occupant from an apartment on the third floor reported a fire in the kitchen.

Upon their arrival, crews from Aetna, Hose, Hook, and Ladder reported that Newark Police had already extinguished the fire.

Command requested that Fire Marshals respond to the scene.

A Newark Police officer was dispatched to the same address about a half hour prior to the fire.

Newark Police are reporting that the residents have been allowed to return to their homes.

The occupant of the apartment where the fire started is being evaluated by ambulance crews.
