Man Pleads Guilty To Shooting Two At Dover House Party

On Saturday, September 8th, 2018 The Dover Police Department responded to a shooting that left two people suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 2:22 AM, officers responded to the Unit Block of Nicholas Drive for a report of shots fired. Officers learned that there was a large party at the residence and a large fight broke out in the front yard of the home.

During that time, an unknown black male suspect fired multiple rounds into the crowd. A woman and man, both 20-years-old, were struck in the back and transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for treatment for their injuries.

A Dover man pleaded guilty to shooting and injuring 2 people at a large house party in Dover last year. Marquis Harris, 23, pleaded to Assault First Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

The Dover Police Department later arrested 22-year-old Marquis Harris of Dover for the shooting. Detectives developed Harris as a suspect in the incident. On October 2, 2018 members of the 1st State Fugitive Task Force arrested Harris in the 300 block of East Commerce Street in Smyrna without incident.

Harris was committed to jail in default of $81,000 cash bond on the following charges:

-Assault 1st Degree (2x)
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree
-Criminal Mischief

On Friday prosecutors announced a Harris pleaded guilty to Assault First Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. A Superior Court judge will sentence Harris in June.
