Police: Three Arrested After Stolen Moving Truck, Gun Found

Wilmington Police have arrested three wanted subjects and recovered a stolen firearm and a stolen rental truck.

On April 24 at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the Street Crimes Unit located a stolen U-Haul truck being operated on 26th Street. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of 22nd and Spruce Streets, and three occupants were detained.

The driver, 30-year-old Lamar White, was found to be wanted on outstanding charges. At the scene, White attempted to discard a loaded .38 caliber handgun which was found to be stolen out of Avondale, Pennsylvania, according to police.

White has been charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm and receiving stolen property over $1,500. He was arraigned in New Castle County Superior Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $21,750 cash-only bail.

The two other passengers in the vehicle, 44-year-old Shannon Williams and 44-year-old New Castle resident Gary Reed, were found to have active arrest warrants and were taken into custody and processed accordingly.
