Photos – 11-Year-Old Seriously Injured In Rollover Crash, Driver Charged With 5th DUI

Greenwood – Just after 9:45 last evening rescue crews from the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company, along with crews from the Bridgeville Fire Company, Sussex County Medics, Greenwood Police, Delaware State Police, and Trooper 2 were dispatched to a rollover crash in the 12000 block of Shawnee Road.

Upon arrival, crews reported that a vehicle had overturned after striking a utility pole and ordered the road closed.

Two passengers in the vehicle including an adult male and his 11-year-old son, along with the driver, 53-year-old Patricia J. Prettyman, were transported to  Bayhealth Sussex Campus. The 11-year-old child was later transported to the A.I. DuPont Hospital with serious injuries, according to Delaware State Police Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said that when Troopers made contact with Prettyman they noticed an odor of alcohol and initiated a DUI investigation. A computer check revealed that Prettyman had four previous DUI convictions, making this her fifth offense, added Jaffe.
