Breaking: Water Rescue Underway In Downtown Wilmington

Wilmington – Rescue crews from the Wilmington Fire Department along with crews from the county are responding to South Walnut Street at the Christina River for reports that a  person in the water.

Witnesses are telling arriving crews that the subject went under the water and has not resurfaced. Crews are descending on that area of the last sighting.

Command reporting that the person was last seen at approximately 9:25 Friday morning.

Fire boats, dive teams and Trooper 4 also en route.

Update: Trooper for and boats have arrived on location. marine units are using radar to try and locate the subject.

Update: The incident is now a recovery operation.
