Police: 64-Year-Old Man Charged With Unlawful Sexual Contact, Released

 

The Dover Police Department has arrested a 64-year-old man from Dover after he allegedly committed a sex crime against a 19-year-old female, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said the incident occurred on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 at approximately 3:22 PM, when the victim was approached by Michael Daniels in a shopping center. The victim had been walking in the area during a break from her employer.

Daniels asked the victim for directions to Loockerman Street. The victim provided him directions and was then asked to get in Daniels’ vehicle and guide him there, which the victim refused. Daniels’ then extended his arm as if to shake the victim’s hand. When the victim shook his hand, he forced her arm into the vehicle and made the victim touch his exposed penis, according to Hoffman. Daniels then fled the area.

Daniels was stopped later that day by officers but was released as they did not have enough information at the time to make an arrest. Surveillance video was later located and an arrest warrant was issued on July 12th. Daniels came to the police department on July 12th for an interview and was subsequently arrested for the July 6th offense.
