Middletown – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred last night, according to Director of Public Information, Sergeant Richard Bratz.
Bratz said the initial investigation has determined that on Friday, July 12, 2019, at 8:46 p.m., a 2018 Jaguar F-PACE was traveling eastbound on Pole Bridge Road approaching the intersection of Acorn Drive. While traveling across the lawn, the vehicle struck a posted road sign and traveled over a small tree before the left front of the vehicle struck a standing tree. The vehicle then traveled out of control facing northbound before the passenger side of the vehicle slid into another tree and immediately became engulfed in flames.
The woman, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Speed is being considered a factor in this crash, said Bratz. Her identity remains unknown at this time and is pending next of kin notification.
