Troopers Release Details Of Fatal Crash Near Delaware/Maryland Line

(Warwick, MD) On Sunday, July 21, 2019, around 2:20 PM, troopers from the North East Barrack were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision which involved a Freightliner tractor and a Ford Focus, which occurred in the area of Blue Star Memorial Highway (MD 301) and Sassafras Road in Warwick. The driver of the Ford Focus was pronounced deceased at the scene by Emergency Services paramedics.

In the early stages of this investigation it appears the Ford Focus had been traveling northbound on Sassafras Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of MD 301, police said. The truck tractor then struck the Ford Focus.

The Maryland State Highway Administration responded to assist with the road closure and traffic control. The Maryland State Police CRASH Team along with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement inspectors also responded for the investigation.

The names of the drivers involved in the crash are being withheld at this time, pending notification of families.

Any witnesses to this crash are asked to contact the Maryland State Police North East Barrack at 410-996-7800, reference case #19MSP030542. The investigation is continuing at this time
