Troopers Say Bellefonte Bank Robber Suspect In Felton, Middletown Robberies

Bellefonte – The Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a North Wilmington Wells Fargo Bank that occurred just after noon today, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 12:22 p.m., Monday, August 5, 2019, at the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 814 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, when a male suspect approached a teller and produced a note demanding cash. The teller complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect, who was last seen fleeing on foot, northbound on Philadelphia Pike. The teller was not injured as a result of the incident.

This same suspect is believed to be responsible for two other robberies that have taken place at banks in Delaware since Friday. The first occurred on Friday, August 2, at the WSFS located on Irish Hill Rd. in Felton, with the second occurring at approximately 11:06 a.m., on today’s date, at the M&T Bank, located at 399 E. Main St., in Middletown, which is being investigated by the Town of Middletown Police Department.

Detectives from the Delaware State Police and the Middletown Police Department are continuing to work in conjunction with the F.B.I. on this active and ongoing investigation.

Wilmington – Delaware State Police(DPS) are currently investigating a bank robbery that occurred around noon on Monday at 814 Philadelphia Pike in Wilmington.

Trooper 4 and K-9 Units have also been deployed in the area.

Suspect and incident details will be released when DSP releases further details.
