Neighbors Hear “Sounds Of Gunfire”, Two Found Shot Three Hours Later

Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting incident that they say occurred at approximately 12:30 Sunday morning in the 200 block of North Market Street.

Police said that they located two gunshot victims, a 28-year-old female and a 37-year-old male who were both transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Earlier in the evening, a local resident contacted First State Update asking if there was a shooting in Wilmington. The resident, who lives a couple of blocks away from the Market Street shooting scene,  had just heard what sounded like rifle fire near her home and was very worried.
The resident said that at around 9:10 Saturday evening the sounds of the gunfire were so loud that her neighbors came outside to see what was going on.
At this time, it’s unclear if the earlier sounds of the gunfire are related to the Market Street shooting incident.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Detective Joran Merced at (302) 576-3637.
