Troopers: Spa Worker Beaten, Robbed After Services Rendered

Dover- The Delaware State Police have arrested 25-year-old Kampta P. Sharma Jr. after he robbed a Dover Spa and assaulted an employee, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on December 14, 2019, at approximately 10:28 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the Rose Spa located at 1883 S. Dupont Highway, in reference to a robbery. Upon arrival, contact was made with a 45-year-old female employee who advised that a subject had received service and then proceeded to ask for his money back.

The suspect, Sharma, then forced the employee to turn over the cash, according to Jaffe. Sharma proceeded to strike the employee several times causing her injury, added Jaffe. Sharma obtained an undisclosed amount of cash prior to fleeing the scene. The employee was transported to the Kent General Hospital where she was treated and released for her injuries.

Through investigative measures, Sharma was identified as the suspect. On December 16, 2019, Troopers located Sharma at his residence in the 500 block of Stone Drive in Dover and took him into custody without incident. Sharma was transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following:

Robbery Second Degree
Assault Third Degree
Sharma was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $6000.00 cash-only bond.

It’s unclear what distinguishing factors allowed Troopers to positively identify Sharma as the suspect.
