Townsend – Just after 11:30 Tuesday morning rescue crews from the Townsend and Odessa Fire Companies responded to Route 1 NB just south of Route 299 for reports of a rollover crash involving a tractor-trailer.
Troopers responding to the scene reported that the tractor-trailer was hanging over the bridge. Photos from the scene show that the truck overturned taking a large section of guardrail near the Appoquinimink River Bridge.
Troopers immediately ordered the road closed. Delaware State Police “TRAFFIC ADVISORY TOWNSEND: RT. 1 northbound in the area of Fieldsboro Rd. (South of DE299) is closed due to an overturned tractor-trailer.”
All northbound traffic is currently being diverted onto Route 13 as crews work to clear the scene.
It’s believed that two people, including the truck driver, were transported to the hospital.
