Crews Respond To Two Crashes Simultaneously Overnight, Serious Injuries Reported

Just after 11:15 on Thursday evening rescue crews from the Millsboro and Gumboro Fire Companies, along with Sussex County Medics and Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 2 were dispatched to the 37000 block of Millsboro Highway for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.

While en route to the crash crews learned that the accident involved two vehicles with possibly three people injured.

Shortly after crews began to arrive on scene, radio traffic began to focus on another crash in the 6900 block of Federalsburg Road south of Bridgeville.

As crews arrived at the Bridgeville crash  Command immediately ordered a rapid extrication of the patient due to their condition. Trooper 2, cleared from the Millsboro crash, was quickly diverted to the Bridgeville crash and was on scene within minutes.

Just as Trooper 2 alerted the Sussex Emergency Operations Center (Sussex) that they were on scene, Command at the  Millsboro crash placed their incident under control.

Moments later Bridgeville Command alerted Sussex that their patient had been extricated and would require ground transport due to their condition. Trooper 2 was subsequently recalled and was not used for transport.

That Bridgeville patient, seriously injured, was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford by Bridgeville Ambulance with Sussex County Medics accompanying.

At least two patients from the Millsboro crash were transported by Gumboro and Millsboro Ambulances, both with medics accompanying, according to initial reports from the scene.

Both of the crashes are being investigated by Delaware State Police.
