Firefighter, Three Dogs Injured In Newark House Fire

Newark – Just before 9:15 Monday morning firefighters from the Christiana Fire Company, along with crews from several surrounding companies responded to the unit block of Stallion Drive, in the Sherwood Forest. for reports of a house fire.

While en route crews learned that several callers were reporting a working house fire with smoke and flames coming from the home.

First arriving crews reported fire showing from the home and began their attack on the blaze while simultaneously searching for occupants.

As crews worked the fire Command requested that EMTs respond in to assist a firefighter with a minor ankle injury.

Command advised that the initial and a secondary search of the home met with negative results, no one was in the home.

As they placed water on the fire crews reported that the fire was on the first floor and
in the attic.

As a result of the fire three dogs were transported to a local veterinarian emergency room for treatment. One of the dogs could be heard barking over the fire radio. Command advised that he seem to be in good condition.

New Castle County Paramedics and the Fire Marshal’s Office also en route.
