Delaware City – At around 1:50  this afternoon firefighters at the Delaware City refinery requested New Castle County Paramedics for two burn victims.

Trooper 4 has also arrived on the scene is being told that they will be utilized. The incident commander is also asking for a second helicopter. Trooper 5 is now en route.

We don’t have much regarding the incident other than firefighters are actively putting water on a tower at the facility.

At this point, we are not seeing any additional firefighters responding to the incident.

First State Update has viewed a photo that shows a large fire with heavy black smoke coming from the refinery.

Several minutes prior to the call dozens of our readers began contacting asking for information regarding a fire at the refinery. Many also have sent us photos. See those below.

We will be adding several photos shortly.
