Pair Facing Drug Charges After Almost Crashing Into Trooper

Georgetown– The Delaware State Police have arrested Keon D. Hopkins, 29, of Millsboro and Megan L. Bedo, 40, of Millsboro after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on March 27, 2020, at approximately 8:39 p.m., when a Trooper was traveling eastbound on US 9-Lewes-Georgetown Highway, approaching the SR 30 intersection. A Chrysler 200 was traveling northbound on Gravel Hill Road (SR 30), when the operator passed a yield sign at a high rate of speed and crossed into the path of the Trooper’s fully marked vehicle. The Trooper was able to apply their brakes to avoid a collision. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the operator, Hopkins, and passenger, Bedo, who is the registered owner of the vehicle. Upon contact, the Trooper detected an odor of marijuana, said Jaffe.

Further investigation revealed that Hopkins did not have a valid license and was found to be in possession of marijuana, said Jaffe. Bedo was found in possession of cocaine, in which she was observed attempting to hide on her person, added Jaffe. Additional marijuana, pills, and drug paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle.

The following total was recovered:
