Police Say Burglary Suspect Ransacked Elderly Man’s Home, Items Missing

On February 12, patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Waverly Road, in the community of Fairfax, for a burglary report.

When the officers arrived, they were able to interview the 73-year-old victim. The victim told officers that he left his house around 11:30 a.m. and was gone for approximately two hours. When he returned home, he saw that his house was ransacked and noticed multiple items were missing.

Officials said that the investigation led to officers 43-year-old Timothy Rebman as a potential suspect in the incident.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit assumed the investigation and determined that Timothy Rebman was, in fact, the suspect, according to police. On February 28th, the detectives were able to apprehend Rebman at his residence along with additional evidence, added authorities.

Rebman was transported to New Castle County Division of Police Headquarters where he was charged with one count of felony Burglary 2nd and one count of felony Theft Where the Victim is 62 or Older.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and is being held at Gander Hill in lieu of $4000 cash bail.
