Firefighters Battle Two-Alarm Fire In Pike Creek Early Monday

Newark – Just after 12:30 Monday morning firefighters from across northern New Castle County were dispatched to the 400 block of Benham Court in the Clearview Ridge Townhouses development for reports of a structure fire.

While en route to the scene crews learned that 911 dispatchers were taking multiple calls for the incident. As additional information was relayed to dispatchers crews learned that two homes were possibly involved and that all occupants were out of the homes.

Upon their arrival, crews reported heavy fire showing from the rear of the structure and struck a second alarm. As crews worked to knock the fire down crews confirmed that all occupants were out of the home and that the row of townhomes had been evacuated.

At just under 15 minutes into the fire, crews reported that the roof had collapsed.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control approximately thirty minutes after their arrival. No injuries reported.

At least two of the homes along the row of the homes sustained damage.

Delaware State Fire Marshals responded to the scene and are investigating the cause of the fire.

Crews with New Castle County Paramedics, St Francis Rehab, Cranston Heights, Christiana, Hockessin, Mill Creek, Miquas, Belvedere, Elsmere, Aetna, HH&L, Chester County, PA, FIELDCOM1, and New Castle County Police were either dispatched to the incident or covered the area during the incident.
