Troopers: Domestic Dispute Escalates Into Man Being Stabbed By Girlfriend

Dover – The Delaware State Police have arrested a Dover woman, in connection with stabbing her boyfriend during a domestic dispute, according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said the initial incident was reported at approximately 1:42 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2020. Troopers responded to S. State Street in the area of Lebanon Road for reports that a 35-year-old Dover man was stabbed after leaving Royal Farm. The victim, who was found walking in the area, was treated at Bayhealth Kent Campus for a single stab wound to his upper torso.

During a follow-up investigation, Troopers were able to determine that the victim was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, 41-year-old Safata Johnson of Dover, on the night of the incident. During the dispute, the verbal argument escalated and Johnson retrieved a paring knife and stabbed the victim in the upper torso, according to Pepper.

Johnson turned herself into Troop 3 and was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court. She was charged with Assault First Degree (felony), Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony and was released on her own recognizance with a No Contact Order issued with the victim.
