Police: Gunmen Open Fire On Vehicle In Dover, Woman Shot In The Head

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old female with a gunshot wound to her head, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said officers responded to the 100 Block of Willis Road at approximately 8:41PM on Sunday, May 10th for a report of shots fired. While responding, officers were flagged down by a vehicle that was transporting the victim to the hospital.

Officers escorted the vehicle to Kent General Hospital and stayed with the victim while she underwent medical treatment. Additional officers responded to the scene and located several shell casings in the area.

The driver of the vehicle stated they were in the area when two black males began firing at his car. The vehicle was struck approximately 14 times on the driver’s side. One of the rounds struck the 18-year-old female in the head. An occupied home in the area was also struck, however, none of the occupants were injured, said Hoffman.

The 18-year-old female is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery from her injuries.
