Happening Now: Motorcycle Off The Road Into The Water Near Smyrna

Smyrna – Just before 10:00 this morning Delaware State Police along with area rescue crews responded to 4200 Hay Point Landing Road (Off Route 9) for a water rescue.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that a motorcycle hit a guardrail on an almost 90-degree turn along Route 9 and was ejected into the water.

Medics reported that the rider was believed to have been partially submerged in the water over for 20 minutes. Medics estimating that the distance from the guardrail to the water was 15 to 20 feet.

The rider is currently en route to the hospital via ground.
