Happening Now: Reports Of An Overturned Vessel In The Christina River

Newport – Rescue crews along with dive and swim teams are en route to the Christina River just north of Route 141 for reports of an overturned vessel in the water.

Crews en route are learning that a caller is reporting that a kayak was overturned and one person may be in the water. The caller has called back and reported that the kayak is no longer visible.

DNREC officials reporting that a row team was in the water minutes ago. Trooper 4 overhead is reporting teens in a rowboat and a jet ski are near the boat ramp. Neither group appears to be in distress, according to reports from the scene.

Marine units and Trooper 4 are searching the area as a precaution.

Update: Crews have searched the river from Churchmans Marsh to the City. No boaters found in distress. Command has placed the incident under control.
