Police: Suspect In Custody After Chase Into Pennsylvania Ends In Crash

New Castle County Police have charged 19-year-old Kyle Jewell following a vehicle pursuit where he fled from police, officials said Sunday.

Authorities said on July 5th at approximately 11:20 a.m., New Castle County Police Officers observed Kyle Jewell operating a red Acura in the area of Limestone Road and Stoney Batter Road. Officers knew that Kyle was wanted on active warrants and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop to arrest him. When the officers activated their police lights and sirens, Kyle Jewell fled in the vehicle.

The chase continued onto Ewart Road in Pennsylvania where the vehicle crashed, at which time Kyle Jewell and an uninvolved juvenile passenger exited the vehicle and were ultimately apprehended without any injuries.

Kyle Jewell was then turned over to Southern Chester County Police Department, and the juvenile was then turned over to his guardians.

Kyle Jewell was charged with: Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Leaving the Scene of a Property Collision Accident, Aggressive Driving, Driving a Vehicle at Unreasonable Speed, Failure to Signal Continuously, Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device, 3 counts of Passing on the Right, Following a Motor Vehicle too closely, One count of Felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and one count of misdemeanor Theft under $1,500. As of Sunday Kyle Jewell was awaiting extradition back to Delaware.
