Officials: Man Facing Gun Charge After Fleeing From Police

Wilmington Police have arrested a man and recovered a loaded handgun following a foot pursuit.

Officials said on July 21 at approximately 6:40 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force were in the 1200 block of West 2nd Street when they attempted to contact a suspicious person. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Isaiah Stanley, fled from officers and was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

While officers were placing him in custody, Stanley removed a loaded .22-caliber handgun from his pocket and tossed the weapon underneath of a parked vehicle, according to police. The firearm was recovered. Stanley has been charged with the following offenses:

Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $12,000 unsecured bail.
