Troopers Charged Suspect With Biting Man’s Ear Off During Fight

Dover- The Delaware State Police have arrested 34-year-old HUGO L. MONTECINO-CAAL after he physically assaulted an acquaintance of his, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on July 8, 2020, at approximately 9:52 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to a residence in the 5000 block of N. Dupont Highway in Dover, in reference to an assault complaint. Upon arrival, Troopers learned that Montecino-Caal had engaged in an argument over job-related issues with a 27-year-old male acquaintance who came over to his residence. The argument turned physical when Montecino-Caal proceeded to bite the victim’s ear off, said Jaff. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was treated for severe injury to his ear.

Montecin0-Caal was taken into custody at his residence without incident and transported back to Troop 9 where he was charged with Assault 2nd degree. He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $10000.00 secured bond.
