11-Year-Old Riding Bike Struck By Vehicle Thursday

At approximately 6:15 Thursday evening, New Castle County Paramedics and Christiana Fire Company were dispatched to the area of Appleby Road and Estates Drive for a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist, according to Paramedic Corporal Yvonne Russell.

Russell said upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found the patient, an 11-year-old-male, in care of emergency medical technicians. The patient suffered injuries to his head, neck, back, and hand and was treated on the scene. The patient was transported to Christiana Hospital via Christiana Fire Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. He was in stable condition at the time of transport.

New Castle County Police Department is investigating the crash.
