Home Destroyed In New Castle Sunday, Family Displaced, $300K In Damage

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating this afternoon’s fire that destroyed a New Castle, Delaware home, according to Michael Chionchio Assistant State Fire Marshal.

Chionchio said the blaze, reported shortly before 12:30 pm, occurred in the 1400 block of Gadwall Court in the Mallard Pointe development near South DuPont Highway. The Wilmington Manor Fire Company arrived on the scene with flames shooting from the two-story dwelling.

Deputy fire marshals were sent to the scene to investigate the fire’s origin and cause. Investigators are currently on the scene conducting the investigation.

Heavy fire damage was estimated at $300,000. There were no reported injuries. The American Red Cross is providing emergency assistance to the residents. Four adults and two children were displaced by the fire.

The fire remains under investigation.
