Four Shot In Claymont, Two Fatally, Two Others In Critical

Last evening, July 14, at 9:40 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of Balfour Ave, in the community of Knollwood for a report of a shooting that had just occurred, officials said Thursday.

Authorities said when the patrol officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a 27-year-old male, a 16-year-old male, and a 19-year-old female suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency first aid was provided by the officers and EMS personnel however the two males were pronounced dead at a local area hospital.

Later, an additional 18-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound arrived at a local area hospital via a private vehicle. Officers determined that this male was also shot on Balfour Avenue during this incident.

Medical staff listed both the 19-year-old female and 18-year-old male in critical condition.

Police said the investigation is in the early stages.
