Police Make Arrest In Tuesday’s Shooting In Wilmington

Wilmington Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with a shooting incident that took place on Tuesday evening.

On July 13 at approximately 5 p.m., police were called to the 1300 block of West 6th Street in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred. Police located a 48-year-old male gunshot victim who was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Patrol officers and members of the Street Crimes Unit located and detained 25-year-old Hakeem Allen near the scene.

The case was assigned to Detective Kevin Murphy of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Murphy identified Allen as a suspect and obtained arrest warrants, police said Wednesday.

Allen has been charged with the following offenses:

Assault (First Degree)
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $108,000 cash-only bail.
