Man Hospitalized After Explosion At Ocean View Home

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating an explosion that heavily damaged a structure in Ocean View, Delaware on July 14, 2021, according to Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal John Galaska.

Galaska said the incident, reported shortly before 09:00 Wednesday morning, occurred in the 31000 block of Pine Street, Banks Acres, Ocean View, Delaware. The Millville Volunteer Fire Company arrived on the scene and found a damaged mobile home. Mutual aid fire companies assisted at the scene.

State fire investigators said the explosion was an accidental ignition of gas that occurred while the stove was undergoing maintenance.

Damage is estimated at $10,000.00. The mobile home was occupied at the time of the fire. The 62-year-old male occupant escaped and was transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center Chester, Pennsylvania in stable condition for burn injuries to the hands. There were no other reported injuries
