Trooper Reportedly Rear-Ended At Over 100 MPH Sunday Morning

Just before 3:15, Sunday morning rescue crews from the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company and Sussex County Medics responded to Coastal Highway for reports of a motor vehicle accident.

While en route crews learned that a Delaware State Police trooper had been rear-ended at over 100 MPH in the northbound lanes, between Keybox Road and Conquest Road. Command then requested a medivac helicopter and began accessing the scene. Crews also learned that there was only one patient at the scene.

Shortly after accessing the scene and Command canceled the helicopter and reported that one patient was being transported to the hospital. It is not clear if the trooper sustained injury in the accident.

The northbound lanes were closed while the accident was investigated and cleared.

This is a developing story.
